About True North Neurodiversity Center
A pioneering applied research center dedicated to empowering neurodivergent individuals and their support networks through proven, positive approaches backed by community-informed applied research.
A Mission to Help the Neurodiverse Generation Find Their True North
The heart of our mission rests in the understanding that every person has the innate potential to navigate life with self-trust, resilience, and a deep sense of purpose. We work to develop practical skill-building trainings based in positive, strengths-focused models that stand together in stark contrast to conventional and often limiting methods of neurodiversity support.
True North is leading the movement towards a more inclusive, compassionate, and enlightened approach to the diversity of the human mind, developing practical programs designed to meet the needs of a diverse population with a wide range of differing perspectives as we meet in a safe, central space of basic of shared human goodness where there is room for everyone.
Private sessions, online classes, and live trainings offer much-needed support to individuals, families, clinicians, and organizations, while regular drop-in groups support the ongoing practice of building new skills.
With a foundation built on deep neurological research and a vision guided by the principles of respect, compassion, and self-responsibility, True North Neurodiversity Center is committed to helping more people create beautiful lives worth living, and is leading the way in transforming how society supports and uplifts its neurodivergent members.
True North is a community-supported educational model currently led by BJ Heugly, LCSW under the direction an advisory board.
“Our center serves as a beacon of hope for children, youth, adults, families, and professionals alike, seeking to create an environment where neurodivergent minds are not just understood but celebrated.
We develop personalized pathways to independence, helping individuals harness their unique strengths to and learn to thrive in a world where they often struggle to find a place.
Let’s learn together how to envision and curate the most beautiful and fulfilling life we can, always cooperating with our neurology rather than seeing it as a problem.”

Our Philosophy
Progress or Problem?
A Positive Approach to Neurodiversity
True North invites families to explore new approach to neurological and systemic independence, training neurodivergent individuals to leverage the way their minds work, rather than fight against it.
An increasing number of humans are being told their brains work outside the boxes well defined by previous generations. Caregivers are tasked with guiding these individuals toward the best possible versions of themselves and teaching them to rely on their strengths, not simply striving for them to comply respectably with an outdated and ill-informed system that does harm as it attempts to box in those with different types of minds.
We work together to help youth envision and curate the most beautiful life possible—just as any artist carefully crafts their work.
